is a 284 page hardcover autobiography of retired Texas Ranger Ramiro "Ray" Martinez. It spans his growing up in West Texas in the 1940s and 1950s as a Hispanic in a harsh world that separated the men from the boys. It covers his career with the Austin Police Department and his first hand account of his contribution in bringing to an end the University of Texas Tower Sniper Incident.
Martinez describes his four years as a Narcotics Agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety when the drug traffic was escalating and experienced Narcotics Agents were scarce as hens' teeth.
After earning the coveted Texas Ranger Badge he began an 18 year career investigating regular major crimes plus expanding to the investigation of official corruption by elected officials and election fraud in South Texas.
Upon retirement he became a private investigator and later served four years as a Justice of the Peace. He continues his activities in the Former Texas Rangers Association and Former Texas Rangers Foundation with their goal of building The Former Texas Rangers History and Education Center on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, Texas to preserve Texas Ranger History for future generations.
